• Activist Chris Cain has been found guilty of obstructing Queens Drive, Liverpool during a Trans-Action protest on 9 April and fined £50, with £30 costs.
Cain, who pleaded guilty to the charges, did not appear in court due to ill-health. He was represented by Jonathon Lawton, who says: "The two magistrates who recorded the guilty verdict were clearly sympathetic to his cause. They both seemed to understand the purpose of his demonstration."
Cain, of Liverpool-based TR Group Holdings, has been responsible for inspiring hundreds of his colleagues to protest against continuing increases in diesel tax. During the course of this year, angry drivers and hauliers have staged a series of "go-slows" on trunk rout and city streets.
