A NATIONAL SCHEME of bus fare concessions for pensioners is likely to be suggested to the Government by Conservativecontrolled Lothian Regional Council.
In a notice of motion to a council meeting, Malcolm Knox, finance chairman, suggested also that the scheme be funded from the Treasury, and not by local ratepayers.
Oft Knox said later that he would be asking the council to recommend to the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities that it makes an early approach to Scottish Secretary George Younger, asking him to regularise subsidised bus travel for pensioners.
