Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AVERAGE fuel savings of 10 per cent are claimed for a new body or trailer-mounted air deflector device announced this week by York Trailer Co Ltd. Known as the Airo foil, the device consists of a full-width grp "blister" which fits on the body of either rigid or artic vehicles. Shape of the blister and its position have been determined by wind tunnel tests.

Road tests of the device, have shown that fuel savings can range from 5 per cent for laden vehicles to 15 per cent for empties. York claims that the device does not impede artic unit efficiency when running solo, because it is mounted on the trailer not the tractor. The Airofoil can be fitted with an optional illuminated panel for the company name.

In standard form—suitable for 4m high vehicles—the Airofoil costs £120 including fitting. Larger sizes are available.
