alFailing to supply information when required by a meat inspector has cost Wrexham haulier Ian Griffiths £462 in fines and costs.
Griffiths, who trades as IPG Transport, admitted the offence in a case brought by the Food Standards Agency before the Wrexham magistrates.
Glen Murphy, prosecuting, told the court that Griffiths had been transporting lamb car
casses to Smithfield Market in London on behalf of Fairfield Meats. Last November a meat inspector at Smithfield found the ambient temperature of the carcasses was higher than it ought to be. Griffiths had said that he did not want to give any information to the meat inspector as it might jeopardise his contract with Fairfield Meats.
For Griffiths, Alan Williams said the inspector told Griffiths that he could obtain a warrant to seize the documents; Griff replied that was perhaps t best thing to do. However, t investigation had not been pr udiced as the required doc mentation had been obtain from other sources.

In a speech to his awe-struck workforce Sir Jos announced that he will be standing for the Capitalist Despot and Conservative Tyrants' Party (CDCTP) for the Oswaldtwistle and Heckrnonthwaite (South) seat. Addressing the assembled workers Sir Jos said: "Me grandfeyther were a Capitalist Despot, me feyther were a Capitalist Despot before me and now I feel duty bound to follow 'em. "II there's one thing that reet gets me goat these days is them bloody soft-soapin' left wingers calling 'ernselves Tories." Sir Jos went on to announce some of the CDCTP's policy initiatives which include: abolition of unions, re-instatement of child labour, public flogging, abolition of unions, invasion of Europe, and the abolition of unions. Sir Jos concluded his crowdpleasing rhetoric with: "Now get out there you lot and vote for us or yer facin' Csack. Areet?"
FLASH: Sir Jos Spagthorpe has pulled out of the running for the Oswaldtwistle and Hecicmonthwaite (South) seat after a violent altercation with Spagthorpe's union official Arthur Ballpeen. Refusing to apologise after assaulting Ballpeen with the steering column of a Spagthorpe Dreadnought Sir Jos said: "If that bloody Archibald Prescott of Socialist Party can do it, why can't I?"
