Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SELF-CONTAINED, bolt-on, tail-lift assembly of established Swedish design is now to be manufactured in Britain by a new company, Ray Smith (Tail Lifts) Ltd, a subsidiary of Peterborough based Ray Smith Demountables Ltd.

The Scan tail-lift, which holds a 20 per cent share of the Swedish market has two capacities — at 1-tonne and 11/2-tonne weighing respectively 335kg and 450kg. These weights are less than usual for tail-lifts of these capacities, claims Ray Smith. The lifts have a 4 foot deep platform as standard: are fully hydraulic operated. There are no lifting cables or flexible pipes, and the electro-hydraulic power pack is fully enclosed. The slope of the platform can be adjusted for use on hills or as a bridge plate between vehicles and loading dock. It imposes no restriction on the widths of the door aperture in van bodies and can be used with open bodies.

The platform stows vertically against the back of the body and can be used as the body's rear door.

Boalloy Ltd has introduced a lightweight Tautliner curtainsider semi-trailer with a body weight of 1.19 tons. The 40ft long superstructure, with 8ft Lin-high rear aperture, on a hardwood-decked chassis weighs 5.66 tons.

The lighter Tautliner made it first public appearance at the equipment display at the annual conference of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers at Solihull last weekend.
