Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Maidstone, Bus, Minibus

I was very interested to hear of , speech made by Mr Charles Yeates a Kettering OR co-ordination of hirini rates.

If the trade does not do this, they wi all have to sell out to the National Bu Company. I have recently done survey of National Bus Compan quotes in the Kent area. In line witl what the private 'operators are quotini the National quotes were 25 per cen to 50 per cent cheaper, especial] where they were running to London. I must be easy to send one coach ui with a private party then let it do London to Maidstone or Gillinghan return, and the normal service coacl going to London can then bring thi party back.

I wonder if when National make . loss, and this is written off by thi existing Government, this low quotini will be taken into consideration. I hay' spoken to coach operators in the Ken area and they inform me that they an losing clients owing to this lowering c quotes by their National office.

It seems odd to roe that in all rrr public inquiries when launching Dial a-Ride, the main defence of th, National Bus Company on far structure was abstraction of traffic, ye in reverse the private operators cai

ave no such defence.

Many will now be reading this and lying "sour grapes", but in fact I do A operate any coaches, only Dial-ade minibuses. Heed Mr Yeates' ivice; remember National Bus have el rebates and bus subsidies to assist em in keeping costs down, and by ilizing private hire along with stage irriage they can drive many )erators into bankruptcy or nationaliition by the back door.
