• For the first time, the quarterly total of cases of theft of and from commercial goods vehicles in the Metropolitan Police District dropped below 1,000 in the first three months of this year. The total of 917 cases compares with 1,077 in the corresponding period of 1967 and is well below the figures for 1966 and 1965. On the other hand, the value of thefts increased considerably. The details are given in the accompaning table.

Mr. J. T. Brown, chairman of the RHA vehicle security committee conunented this week that the figures showed that thieves were finding their task more difficult but were becoming more selective.
