Mr. Peter F. Bennett, J.P., managing director of Joseph Lucas, Ltd., was, on May 16, elected president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders for the year 1935-36, in succession to Sir Herbert Austin, K.B.E., who was elected deputy president. Mr. W. E. Rootes and Mr. W. Cowen were elected vice-presidents, whilst Mr. J. A. Thomson, J.P., was re-elected honorary treasurer.

Mr. Charles Holdsworth, of Messrs. Holdsworth and Burrell, Bradford, and Mr. Harold Goodwin, secretary of Blythe and Berwick (1928), Ltd., Bradford, have been appointed roadhaulage representatives on the transport committee of Bradford Chamber of Commerce. Mr. C. F. Calvert, of Oswald Tillotson, Ltd., has also been appointed to the committee as a representative of motor xnanufacturers and traders.
