This tribute was contained in a letter from Mr. Humphrey Cooke, of St. Austell, the area secretary, read by the assistant honorary secretary, Mr. A. L. Bowden, of Helston, at the annual meeting, last Friday, of the Western Sub-area of the R.H.A. Mr. Cooke stated that the question of wages and conditions was going forward, and the employers' side had reported that the wages agreement of November 20 last should be adopted by the National Board, which was considering receiving a deputation on the point.

Mr. Cooke appealed to members to write to the British Broadcasting Corporation and to their Members of Parliament, pointing out that certain recent broadcasts had been largely a matter of advertising for the railways,

and asking the recipient of the letter to see that if such advertising were allowed similar publicity should be given to the case of the roads.

Motor-minded M.P. Speaks Out.

A fair-minded and entertaining informal address was given after lunch at the Aldwych Club. London, on May 16. by Lt.-Col. J. T. C. MooreBrabazon, M.C., M.P.; on the, subject of motoring legislation. He traced the development of uninformed pre judice (against which he has fought most staunchly) since the early days: of vested anti-motoring interests and of the lack of justice that the system of prosecution for purely technical offences was leading to throughout the country, due to the crowded courts and the lack of time available for a defendant to state his facts.
