" Bias " Allegation Against Appeal Tribunal.

The allegation that the Appeal Tribunal was favourably biased towards the railway companies was made by Mr. W. D. Connochie when appearing before the Northern Scotland Licensing Authority on behalf of Messrs. Charles Alexander, Aberdeen, who sought to replace two light vehicles by a 5tonner. Two railway companies objected.

Mr. Connochie pointed out that the applicants' fleet was being reduced from 12 tons to 10 tons. He hoped there would be no objection to an increase of tonnage later. He declared that a carrier could not extend his business if it affected a railway company, but the railway companies could expand regardless of the interests of carriers.

The application was refused.
