a broad mix of vehicles. A good number of Iveco 7.5-tonners have featured at recent Manheim sales but demand has outstripped supply recently, forcing prices up 10%, according to national HGV and plant manager Jeremy Martell.

"Where there were five to 10 units going through, that number has dropped," he adds."Now you've got to fight to get your hands on one."

Other good sellers have included 1998 S-plated Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors and ex-TNT MAN F2000 18.403 4x2 tractors. Most of the MANs have been exported; they sold for £5,500-6,000.

Scanias continue to fetch good prices; four 1997 P124 360s fetched between £8,500 and £9,500.A tidy Daf 45.150 on a 2001 X-plate with an Atlas crane behind the cab and 20ft dropside body raised £16,000. Two 2002 SDC triaxle curtainsider trailers fetched £9,750 and £10,250 while a 1999 Nooteboom triaxle step-frame low-loader went under the hammer for £19,000. •
