Further to your article referring to the dispute between Anderland and Pride International ("Trailer held in row returned", page 10, CM1016 June), we request the right to air our point of view.

Pride International was engaged on 16 March 1999 to subcontract on a traction-only basis with our trailer between the Ruhr and GB. Before he ran out of funds he had worked for us 10 weeks and had received four payments to the value of DM13,260 (£4,420), On 07 June he also received a cash payment of DM3,600 (£1,200). So in a period of 10 weeks he received payments of DM16,860 (£5,620).

By engaging an Englishregistered company with a valid international Operator's Licence we would automatically expect this company to meet the European Directive of financial standing—and not need to borrow .£800 from his mother-in-law.
