Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Drivers are accusing management at Tibbett & Britten's Transcare division of "blackmail" over the imposition of a new national pay structure.

The deal is expected to cost Transcare drivers an average of £67 a week, although the division is offering to make one-off payments of £5,000.

But the 100 or so drivers have been told by the company that if they reject the new structure it will still be implemented—without the sweetener. The previous offer would have cut wages by up to £100 a week.

Transcare, which operates almost exclusively for Marks & Spencer, refuses to comment.

The offer guarantees 37.5 hours a week and is expected to be implemented next month.

Drivers will vote on the deal, although the unions involved— the Transport and General Workers Union and the United Road Transport Union—will not recommend acceptance. They accept that this is the company's final offer.
