Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders members have contributed in a constructive way to the drafting of this standard, which will prove especially beneficial in the replacement parts market. For vehicle and axle manufacturers, the Standard will provide a useful guideline. The total adoption of its specifications does however remain a matter for individual companies. Vehicle and original equipment manufacturers operate at a European level of product development and their decisions have to be made in that context
