THE output of commercial vehicles 1 in the first four months of this year, at 107,184 units, showed an increase of nearly 24,200 on last year's figure. Exports during April set a record for both number and value at 15,945 and £9,000,358 respectively. Twelve months ago the respective figures were 11,642 and £6,923,031.

During the month, Australia took 3,223 units, South Africa, 1,500, and New Zealand, 1,137.

The average weekly output during April was 5,829 units, the total for the month being 23,315, of which 10,217 were for export and 13,098 for the home market. Passenger vehicles produced during the month totalled 915-660 singledeck and 252 double-deck motorbuses and 3 trolleybuses. In the same period, 109 battery electric vehicles were manufactured.

For the first four months of the year exports were valued at £32,855,585, the total with parts and accessories being £67,908,544.
