AVERAGE operating costs of the Road Haulage Association Express Parcels Functional Group members have risen by 6.4 per cent since the start of the year.
The main reasons were wages and fuel and standing charges such as rates and heating.
Operating costs for the period July 1, 1981 to June 30, 1982 increased by 7.7 per cent.
From January 1, 1983, the group's minimum recommended limited liability for insurance would be £3,500 per metric tonne. The group also indicated that it was hoping to publish a table showing the cost of carrying a package of determined weight over a measured distance.
