Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BARELY three weeks after the launch of Ford's South African-built, Cortina-based one tonne pick-up, the P100 (CM wie July 3 and July 10), a tipper-bodied version is available. The converter is BCT Equipment of Kedderminster, which claims to have supplied similar Dumpit 600 bodies for use with Ford pick-ups in South Africa over the past two years.

BCT also suggests that the Dumpit 600 is "Ford approved" but Ford at Brentwood tells us that the only accessory so far officially approved in this country for the P100 is the grp load canopy supplied by Walkers of Watford. range of removable tipping bodies designed by BCT to be suitable for all pick-ups with payloads up to two tons. It is a demountable unit supplied complete with loading roller and demount legs but it is not intended to be removed or installed when loaded.

The complete basic package consisting of pressed steel body, chassis member, extension side sockets, three-way tailgate, electro-hydraulic power pack, hydraulic ram (scissor movement), cab window guard, four fixing clamps, loading roller and support legs has a retail exworks price of E870 plus vat.

Optional extras include body colours other than the standard "golden yellow", an electric so lenoid control switch, and an hydraulic line safety valve.

The Dumpit 600 fitted to the P100 differs from those supplied by BCT for other pick-ups only in that its body length is about 229mm (9in) shorter. According to BCT this is because there is no easy means of removing the standard Ford tailgate (the usual procedure when fitting the tipping body) which therefore is left in place (hinged down).
