1051 FLECTP.ICAT, AND ACETYLENE LIGHTING SETS. [105

The central feature of this exhibit is a complete electric-lighting outfit of the now popular Rushmore type in which voltage regulations are effected by a

simple coil. Simplicity and reliability are the features which have been aimed at, and the set is accordingly well suited to commemial requirements. Where night work has to be done such a set is certainly an excellent investment, the light being always auailable on the touching of a switch, and while the first outlay may be comparatively high, the cost of maintenance is practically nil, especially now that lamps capable of withstanding any amount of vibration are available.

The acetylene sets by this firm are well known, and may almost be said to fix a standard in lamp construct:on, the shaking-grate generator for one thing being one of the very best of its type.

13S] GREASERS, FILTERS, PCMI'S AND COCKS. [FAB

This manufacturer has built up a big business in the supply of lubricators, grease-cups, and the various small metal fittings of which so many are used on the up-to-date chassis. It is of interest to note that the company has much improved the design of its hand-power tire pump of which so many are now in service. Users are now recommended to purchase the new two-throw pump which embodies considerable structural improvements. An interesting departure has been made in the " chain lightning" grease-gun. Supplies of lubricant are now put up in metal cases which can be slipped into the barrel of the gun without the necessity of soiling the hands or the waste of lubricant which sometimes occurs when such guns are being used.

140] THE NEW SMITH FOUR-JET CARBURETTER. DAD 01 very special interest to our readers is, of course, the four-jet carburetter -described and illustrated in a recent issue of this journal. The maker claims for this appliance a correct mixture at all engine speeds, and a consideration of the construction employed will do much to convince even the most experienced user of patent carburetters that there is much to justify the Smith claim. The speedometers made by this old-established company are also prominently displayed, and many machines on exhibition in the hall will be found to be fitted with these appliances. A number of the leading makers is using the Smith speedometer for their machines. In addition, a full range of accessories is displayed.
