Prominently displayed on the Unic stand is that maker's newest production in the way of commercial vehicles. This is a 1624 h.p. two Ion chassis of the type in which the driver's seat is mounted over the engine. This unit, by the way, is one of the monobloc type, with all the valves arranged on one side, and is most accessibly situated, notwithstanding the fact that it appears some what closed-in. The drive is taken through the usual Unic form of leather-faced cone clutch, and interposed between the clutch and the three-speed-and-reverse gearbox is a double flexible coupling consisting of alternate discs of steel and leather. The whole of the power and transmission gear from i engine to gearbox s rigidly mounted on one continuous sub frame, the neat footbrake-operating mechanism also being mounted ott the same frame. A double universally-jointed eardan shaft connects the gearbox to the beveldriven live back axle, and the back wheels are shod with twin pneumatic tires, the front being also provided with pneumatic tires, but of the single type. Unic commercial vehicles are now so well known in this country as to need little in the way of recommendation from us to induce visitors to the Show to pause at this stand, where, in addition to the two-ton chassis. representative exhibits of other models will be found. These include a 10-12 h.p. shooting brake, a 10-12 h.p. light delivery van, a 1-216 h.p. taxicab, a 12-16 h,p box van, and a second 12-16 hp. van very smartly finished, anti built to the order of Bradley and Sons, the Arctic fur stores. The last-named vehicle is fitted with detachable wire wheels, and a spare wheel is also carried. Al! these models, like the two-ton chassis, are fitted with pneumatic tires.
