Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford is cutting its workforce by nearly 10%, making 170 staff redundant: 100 jobs will go at the Langley plant.

The company says the cuts have to be made by the end of March because of a 30% drop in the truck market. About 100 non-production-Line jobs will be cut at Langley; the remainder will be culled from salaried posts across the company. Iveco Ford says all the redundancies will be voluntary and staff affected will be offered an "enhanced package".

Senior management posts will not be touched, but for the past year the company has not been filling vacant jobs.

Production workers at Langley are on a four-day week on 90% pay until the end of this month. A review will then decide whether to hold production at 50 or so trucks a week.
