Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It will probably come as a surprise to no one that our figures have come out on the low side. Talk to most operators who use the M6 and ask them if they'll switch roads and the answer will be an unequivocal "no" — sometimes with 'unless the M6 is jammed" tacked on the end.

The fact is that it is still very much a "distress purchase" for general hauliers. It is hard enough to pass the cost of fuel price rises onto customers, let alone a £10 toll for a two-way trip, It would be nice if MEL were to be more open about the level of truck traffic on the road, but don't hold your breath.
