Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PAUL WATSON, the British haulier imprisoned in France for alleged drug smuggling, has been released on bail back to the UK.

Watson, who has always protested his innocence, was allowed back to the UK over Christmas but returned to France to prove he had nothing to hide. He believes he was allowed home as a test of his honesty to see if he would go back to France to fulfil his bail terms.

His partner Sarah Wilson says: "It's great news.We began to think that they might not release him because they have taken so long to make a decision. It all happened at the eleventh hour. Paul is still on bail and has to sign in with the French authorities down in Dover once a month.

"The lawyers have said that this will probably be the case now until September because then they will have held Paul for two years and a decision has to be made whether they will send him to trial or drop the whole case. At least now we can try to rebuild some of our lives together back in the UK and then we'll have to cross whatever comes our way later this year."

Watson was arrested in September 2003 after a tonne of cannabis was found on board his vehicle when he was stopped by French Customs on the A I at Arras.
