• Pioneer Concrete International is keeping a close eye on its new Oaf 75CF eightwheeler to see if it earns its keep.
Although Pioneer is able to get a third more payload than a six-wheeler with eight cubic metres, it has yet to decide whether it makes enough fully laden trips to justify the extra running costs and road tax of a 32-tonner Owner-driver Cohn Portman is doing the maths and counting on getting enough loads to make the outfit profitable. The truck is powered by a 9.2-litre Daf PF engine rated at 320hp with a 2F 85151 eight-speed rangechange gearbox.
