Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOLLOWING development worit in 'conjunction with All Wheel Drive, Ltd., .Camberley, the Ford Motor Co., I td have announced that Goodyear Terratyres are to be made available soon as Optional equipment on all vehicles in the Thames Trader 4 x 4 range, such chassis being modified by All Wheel Drive, Ltd., from standard Trader models.

This is the first time that this revolutionary type of tyre has been made available as factory-fitted optional equipment on any class of British vehicle, and the decision to offer Terratyres follows the successfuP use of this equipment on a Thames Trader 7-ton 4 x 4 which has been operating with Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons, Ltd., on. the site of the new nuclear power station at Dungeness.

.This Trader has been operating at Dungeness since May, 1960, and the outstanding cross-country performance given by the Terratyres obviated the necessity for some of the temporary roads which had been required in the early stages of the construction site, thereby effecting a considerable cost saving.

The Trader used by McAlpine's was a 9-ft.-wheelbase model with a 5-cu.-yd. body, and it was a perfectly standard A.W.D. conversion with the exception of the provision of a David Brown five' speed gearbox.

The Goodyear tyres and their special wheels mount directly on to the standard Trader hubs, thus it is claimed that to change over from standard equipment to Terratyres requires no more time than That normally needed to change the wheels of the vehicle. In the case of the 7-ton 4 x 4 the front axle equipment consists of 46 x 18 x 20-in. Terratyres, with 46 x 24 x 20-in. tyres on the rear.

It is stated that the McAlpine Trader gave a cross country performance approaching that of a tracked vehicle. The large contact-area provided by the Terratyre gives good floatation, whilst on loose unstable surfaces its traction is , reported to be better than that of conventional tyres,
