ASTEERING mechanism shown ii patent No. 858,526 is claimed tt enable a heavy vehicle to be steered with out power assistance (Rockwell-Standar( Corporation, Coraopolis, Penn., U.S.A.

The chief feature of the scheme is tha both the king pin axis (1) and the whet axis (2) are in a vertical plane which, is claimed, reduces the effort required t pivot the wheels, provided the axes at close together.

Spacing of the wheel bearings and th layout of the steering connections hay been so designed as to allow the latter t be located within the wheel rim. Thi enables the two axes to be arranged to Ii within half an inch of each other.
