Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CRS 24:7, the Midlothian-based haulage firm which owes thousands of pounds to as many as 40 contractors, has gone into administration.

Begbies Traynor has been appointed as administrator for the com pany, bought by Lanes-based Fastserv on 26 May. It is understood that Fastserv was unaware of CRS's debts when it made the purchase (CM 10 August). For subcontractor Ryan Bell of Stranraer, who says he is owed .£16,000 by CRS, the news has come too late to save his fledgling business.

CRS was Bell's first customer in the haulage industry, which he joined only five months ago. "I didn't expect anything like this at all when I came into it:he explains.

Another subcontractor, Colin Andrews of Andrews Transport. says Begbies Traynor has told him that he: "will not he getting a penny from CRS. It has nil assets. The company didn't even own the caps on the diesel tanks."

Andrews was originally owed £20,000 but was paid £10,000 after he "walked into the CRS boardroom. The new owner Andrew ('roll wrongly thought I was going to attack him." Bell and Andrews have hot received hills from CRS in the pa few days demanding paymer for trailer hire and breakdow recovery charges. Begbies Traync has advised the men not to pa the bills.

Fastserv operations direct( Simon Parsons told CM tfu another director would retur our calls, but this call had not bee received as we went to press.
