Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A modified version of the Sparshatts Midibus — specially adapted for carrying wheelchair patients — has been delivered to Whittingham Hospital, Preston, Lancs.

The modified form is built on the British Leyland Terrier TR 850 151in. wheelbase chassis. It has an interior length of 20ft and incorporates two double seats and two single seats. The remainder is left clear and provided with wheelchair anchor tracks.

For loading wheelchairs, there are double doors and a power-operated lift at the rear. Normal passenger entry is gained through an additional jack-knife door on the nearside.

Main windows have sliding top sections to increase ventilation and the body is insulated throughout.

An additional specification is a recirculating flush-type chemical toilet situated behind a screen at the rear of the vehicle. This compartment includes a wash basin and hot water tank.

If preferred, the power-operated wheelchair lift can be fitted to the side.
