Additions allowed after five-month curtailment

• Only five months after receiving an 0-licence curtailment, a Shropshire haulage company successfully applied to the West Midland LA, Mr R. R. Jackson, in Birmingham on Tuesday, to increase its fleet by 10 vehicles and 10 trailers.
It was stated that after being called before the LA under Section 69 in April this year, Lloyds of Ludlow Ltd. had had three of its specified vehicles suspended for three months and its margin of six vehicles and one trailer completely removed.
This had been the result of magistrates' convictions and had left the firm with a fleet of 35 vehicles and 43 trailers.
Representing Lloyds, Mr C. Rosser-John said that the company had tightened up its maintenance arrangements and employed a staff of four skilled fitters, a semi-skilled fitter, a welder, and a third-year apprentice.
Mr Rosser-John said the firm's facilities and equipment were more than adequate for coping with the additional vehicles and trailers and that if these were granted the company intended to take on a third skilled mechanic.
The LA announced that he would grant the application as applied for.
