• The next one-week course sponsored by the Road Haulage Association for directors and senior managers of road haulage companies will be held at Ashridge College, Berkhampstead, from September 17 to 21 1973. The subjects are finance (business performance and cost control); human behaviour and personnel management; industrial relations; trade unions; operations research (problems in vehicle replacement); marketing; work study; and management case studies.

The fee of £.130 includes accommodation, meals and tuition. If more than 15 persons attend the fee will be reduced, for example to £110 each for 20 persons. The course is recognized by the RTITB.

• The Prices Commission has approved increases averaging 5.7 per cent on the 1974 range of Bedford trucks. The increases will be retrospective from Monday of this week and are based on higher labour and material costs incurred since November 1972.
