Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Plans by Young Liberals to im sbilize Continental "juggernaut" lorries we described by Transport and General W rkers' Union general secretary Jack Jon this week as "a skylarking approach to a rious problem".

The Young Liberals, led by n tional executive member Peter Hain, prop se to sabotage the lorries in Kent, Susse and Essex while drivers are enjoying ireaks at transport cafes.

Mr Hain told a CM reporter: "We are not going to tamper with anjthing other than the engine. And we will not endanger the life of the driver. This is just our way of drawing the att ntion of the Common Market bureaucrat that we don't want these lorries over here.

"I have every sympathy with the Jriver — he's the guy in the middle just doing his job," he added.

The RHA too has voiced its cond mnation of the Young Liberals' proposed kction as "irresponsible" and has warn 4d its members and their drivers to pay extra attention at roadside halts.

The TGWU's Jack Jones declare : "If the Young Liberals have time to spare they should use it to get Britain out of the clutches of the Common Market bureaucrats who seem intent on letting larger and noisier lorries into Britai . . this is a skylarking approach to a $ rious problem."
