Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following discussions between the Institute of Transport and the Industrial Transport Association, it is likely that both bodies will follow an identical examination syllabus up to the graduateship level. The national council of the ITA has agreed to accept the present IoT syllabus for graduateship examinations as from September 1970.

The Association's statistics paper would be included at the associate membership examination.

The IoT hopes that its new syllabus will come into force in 1973, when the intermediate examination will include statistics.

The new arrangement means that graduate membership of ITA will be identical with intermediate membership of IoT.

The 1970 examination of the ITA will again be in two parts: Part I—elements of transport, English, evolution of modern transport; Part II—economics, principles of law, geography. In 1973, the IoT examination will combine elements and evolution of modern transport and include communication and report writing, statistics in Part I, while the second part will cover economics, geography, law and government in relation to transport. The examination fees for both bodies will be £4 per part. The student qualifications of four 0 levels for IoT will be adopted by ITA.

The recommendations will now go before the council of the Institute on May 11 for ratification.
