loads moved by road over the past 15 months was given in the Commons by Mr. Marples.
He said that 1.736 applidations for direct road transport of loads between 14 and 20 ft. wide had been approved, and 323 rejected. For Loads more than 20 ft. wide there were 17 approvals for direct road transport, 11 for short .journeys to and from docks and railheads, and eight rejections.
A total of 43 loads more than 90 ft. long had been approved-14 of them for short journeys—and 42 rejected, added the Minister, white out of the 108 loads of more than 150 tons approved, 25 had been for short journeys. Five applications to move these had been rejected.
