Tilling Pay Rises : Clerical and supervisory staff employed by the Tilling group of bus companies have been awarded increases in pay: operative from April 9, following negotiations by the Tilling Joint Group Committee. The increases range from 6s, a week at the age of 15 to 14s. a week at 24 for men, and from 6s. to 13s. a week for women ia the same age group. Classified staff, operating foremen and assistants, and traffic inspectors, will receive from 15s. to 19s. a week more, according to circumstances.

New Buses for Darlington : Loan sanction has been granted to Darlington Corporation for the purchase of six double-decker buses at a cost of £34,134.

Cost of Glasgow Bus Strike : The recent unofficial strike of Glasgow municipal bus crews was responsible for an estimated drop in revenue of £120,000. But when wages, fuel and other normal costs were deducted, the loss was reduced to about 160,000.

New Buses for Hull: The Hull Corporation Transport committee has ordered 10 doubledecker and five single-decker buses at a cost of /94,000, for delivery next April. The new buses will replace those in use which have an average life of 10-12 years. By the time of delivery the average age of Hull's buses will be 10-5 year's, but it is hoped to get the average age down to eight years. Midland Red Fares: The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. has applied to' the East and West Midland Traffic Commissioners for fares increases; the company's fares were last raised some four months ago. The bid is for increases on all single .fares on a revised mileage scale_ The 3d. minimum will be retained.
