Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

What are the gross vehicle and axle weights for this vehicle?

will have difficulty in maintaining equal weight distribution between front and rear axle. Would 14or 16-ply tyres on the rear and extra helper spring leaves permit an increased rear axle load or would air brakes be also necessary? Additionally would power steering be impracticable?

AThe manufacturer is intending to plate

this model for 7.6 tons gross vehicle weight. The plated axle weight will be— front 3 tons and rear 5 tons. There will thus be a margin of around 8cwt in your load distribution's exercise.

it appears that the axle casings are the limiting factor to this vehicle's carrying capacity and, in any case, once a vehicle is plated under MoT regulations it will not be possible to increase the g.v.w. by using tyres of higher ply rating or extra springs. The manufacturer is of the opinion that the standard braking system should permit the vehicle to produce retardation sufficient to comply with Ministry requirements.

Power steering would certainly not be impracticable but on an axle not laden beyond 3 tons it should not be required.
