This committee has a membership of 42 companies, the large majority now owned by THC. A graduate of Edinburgh University, Mr. Glass was a journalist until becoming Edinburgh Corporation Transport PRO in 1957 and later widened his duties, becoming chief commercial and public relations officer in 1962. Since 1961 he has been hon. secretary and treasurer of the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association and of the Scottish area of the MPTA. Dunbar has been given the Herbert Crow medal for his paper on "Express Carriers", while R. D. Smith, traffic officer (central buses), LTB, has been given the London Transport Award for his paper on "Reshaping London's Bus Services-. Among the Institute's associate membership examination prizes. J. W. Perry, transport manager of Wright and Co. (Kings Cross) Ltd., has been awarded the Road Haulage Association prize of £20 for the best performance by a road haulier not securing first place. R. J. Wallington, traffic clerk with Reed Transport Ltd., has received the Road Haulage Association graduateship prize of £15 for the best graduateship performance by a road haulier not securing first place.
