• Glasgow Corporation Transport are short of staff requirements by BOO. Some 2,000 drivers and conductors left the service over the past year: 1,750 have been recruited since January but the shortage remained at BOO, or 300 more than at the beginning of 1968. Over 100 buses each day (5 per cent of scheduled services) are withdrawn for periods of one to four hours because of shortage of staff. Incidence of sickness is increasing. A five-day week has been introduced in an effort to make the work more attractive. Plans are being prepared to eliminate through services and to turn all buses in the city centre.
