Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

YORKSHIRE Traction, a National Bus Company subsidiary, opened a new £1/2 million bus maintenance depot at Upper Sheffield Road, Barnsley, this week.

The opening, by the Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor J. C. Stanley, marks 75 years' operation by the company.

Sir Frederick Wood, chairman of National Bus, said the depot was part of NBC's "ambitious investment plans," although, he said, much has still to be done.

This year, he added, NBC has built, developed or improved 42 garages. "Investment is essential if we are to provide a service that we are duty bound to do, and provide 2,000 million passenger journeys each year."

Plans for the depot had been discussed by management, maintenance staff and trade union officers. He concluded by saying "with the continued co-operation of the local authorities, of our sponsoring Ministry, of the trade unions, of management and staffs, we can look forward to a period of success and service to the public in the coming decades."

When the depot becomes fully operational, it will mean that, for the first time, the 145-strong Barnsley bus fleet will be maintained under one roof. The building, which features 14 service pits, replaces two separate garages.
