BLISSFUL IGNORANCE: MHEN the Northern Licensing VV Authority at Stockton on Tees refused art application by Mr. James Hill, of Blackhall Rocks, to operate three additional vehicles, two farmers who supported the application said that they did not know the Road' Haulage Executive could supply vehicles. Mr. C. Tarn, appearing for Mr. Hill, said That the public could not use the R.H.E. as it had never heard of it. Mr. C. Stevens, manager of a unit of the R.H.E. at West Hartlepool, said that the question of advertising the R.H.E. was a matter for the head office.

STATE TRANSPORT APPEAL

AN appeal by the Railway Executive and H. and G. Duffield (B.T.C.), Ltd., against a decision of the Metropolitan Licensing Authority will be heard from September 28-30 at Halifax House, Strand, London, W.C.2, before the Appeal Tribunal. The respondent is Charles Chapman, Ltd.
