REPRESENTAT1ONS have been made by the National Employers' Association of Vehicle Builders against a Government proposal to alter the purchase-tax regulations concerning road vehicles in such a way as to bring certain vans within its scope, simply because they have rear windows.

The regulations as they now stand provide that purchase tax shall apply, with certain exceptions, to road vehicles constructed or adapted solely or mainly for the carriage of passengers, or having to the rear of the driver's seat roofed accommodation lit by side window e and fitted with, or constructed or adapted for the fitting of, seating for passengers.
