LEEDS Corporation has equipped one of its double-deck buses with a microphone and loudspeaker, so that when the conductor is standing on the platform, he may announce clearly the approach of stopping places. The equipment is being provided as an experiment and appears to be giving satisfaction.
Leeds Corporation is said to be the first bus-operating undertaking in the country to experiment in this way.
\ REFUSAL TO CUT TREES.
THE South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., requested Swansea Corporation to trim trees in certain roads, on account of the obstruction caused to double-deck
buses. The highways committee considers that the lopping of these trees would detract from the amenities of the roads and the company is being requested to revert to single-deck buses on this route.
In the event of the company failing to comply with the request, representations are to be made to the Traffic Commissioners.
