Considerable anxiety is being manifested by the growers of early flowers and vegetables in the Isles of Scilly as to what effect the increased price of petrol and the additional motor taxation recommended by the Salter Committee, will have upon the road-transport system so largely used last season.
Mr. R. Sewill, managing director of the London and Southern Counties Transport Co., Ltd., which ran the "flower express" last season, recently visited St. Mary's to discuss the position with the growers.
