The Surveyor for the Yorkshire District, Gri.P.O., Leeds, is seeking tenders for motor-mail services between Manchester and Leeds, Harrogate and Leeds, and Leeds and Menston.

Fire on the Road.

We commend Driver's letter No. 1360, in the present issue, to the notice of owners of steam wagons. We have every reason to believe that the provision of such a fitting would result in a material reduction of fire-insurance rates.

Drunk on Duty.

Lord Skerrington, at Glasgow High Court on the 10th inst., sentenced a motorvan driver, who had been found guilty on a charge of driving a motorvan at a recklesS speed, and knocking down a lamppost, which struck a girl of three and killed her, to six months imprisonment. He remarked that drivers must be taught that strict sobriety is essential to the pursuit of their avocation.

A Fuel "Dope

An R.A.C. test of Herroline, an admixture of a small percentage of which with petrol was alleged to result in a wonderful increase of fuel efficiency, has shown that the mileage obtained is the same with untreated as with treated petrol.

" Zip " Puncture Seal.

H. M. Hobson, Ltd., of 16, Pall Mall, S.W., is putting on the market a new puncture seal, which it is called " Zip." The preparation is a bluish-grey powder, which, on being mixed with water in the pro. portion of one to three, is admitted to the air tube. Demonstrations are being given at the "Zip " agency, 2, Ormonde Yard, York Street, Jermyn Street, W.

Small Power Exhibition.

Small machine-tool work was well represented at the Horticultural Hall, last week, on the occasion of the Fourth Annual Model Engineering and Scientific Exhibition. The exhibits included several high-class productions by Drummond Bros., Ltd., of Guildford, It. Melhuish and Co., Ltd., of Fetter Lane, E.C., Messrs. Buck and Ryan, of Euston Road, N.W., and the Realm Machine Co., of Brixton, S.W.
