Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

results in a 50% drop in your accident rate within six months. That is the dramatic reduction online shopping operation Tesco.com experienced after it contacted RoSPA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) in order to instigate a driver training programme.

Tesco training manager Cliff Cheeseman decided any programme it introduced should include both RoSPA and Tesco content and should take into account a driver's entire job, not just what could be achieved on the road. On top of that, the supermarket eventually wanted to create an internal pool of RoSPA...... approved trainers.

The Tesco-RoSPA partnership covers drivers in all stages of their careers, from recruits to veterans who have been with the firm for years.

New drivers are first tested on subjects like map-reading skills and their driving licences are checked, before a Tesco.corn training manager puts them through a driver assessment. This is very much like a driving test ; it evaluates a drivers confidence and ability on the road.

RoSPA says Tesco.com experienced a drop in turnover of new drivers during their first six weeks, probably because employees are now able to determine whether the job is right for them and vice versa.

After this recruits are "budded upwith existing drivers for up to two weeks to learn about computerised orders, loading vans and making the van checks required by law.

For Tesco.comS existing drivers, the process is no less rigorous. Three-hour training sessions cover subjects such as checking and loading your van: safe driving; identifying places to park for deliveries; and reducing the number of accidents on the way back to the store.

RoSPA trainers working with Tesco validate the drivers to make sure they are competent. RoSPAS Charles Davis says: "During a six-month pilot in North London, accidents decreased by 50% which is dramatic. Think nationwide, in terms of [Tesco.coMs] business case and what they could be saving. Obviously, they took us on from that pilot."
