sold its axles divisions to acquisitive American firm Dana for f73in, GKN, which manufacturers drive and steer axles for Foden, ERF, Seddon Atkinson and Dennis at its Kirkstall plant, has become Dana's seventh European purchase since 1993. The deal also includes light axle plants in Birmingham and Italy.
Dana says that it will not be making any immediate operational changes to GKN.
The axles division currently employs 1,400 in the UK and had a turnover of £116m in 1994.
