Chris Wright is MD of Commercial Vehicle Auctions. CVA holds sales at Doncaster on two Wednesdays each month with a throughput of 160-200 trucks, 80-150 trailers and various items of plant. Wright also conducts sales around the country at customers' premises.

"We've sold a lot of Renault Premium 385s but they are not easy to sell," says Wright. "The Renault badge is still not the force in the used truck market that it has become in the new market. It's early days yet for the 420. It's still very new but there might be a few more about now that City's fleet is up for sale.

"A lot of Renaults are either leased or sold with a guaranteed buy-back and are fed back through the dealer network. That is the place you are more likely to find a late, clean example of a Premium 420.1 don't have a price for the 420 but 4x2 385s are selling at £15.000 on a T-plate and 118,000 on a V. There is still plenty of demand for 4x2s—the 6x2s are wanted mainly for 44tootle operation."
