• The industry's two main trade associations have until 12 June to try and sway the Department of Transport on the final wording of the new speed limiter regulations.
Transport Secretary Malcolm Rifkind dropped the bombshell two weeks ago that from August 1992 limiters would have to be fitted to tractive units up to four years old, as well as to all new HGVs (CM 16-22 May).
