THE FIRST of an order for 17 new double-deck buses to South Yorkshire Passenge Transport Executive has bee despatched by Hestair-Denni and Walter Alexander (Coact builders) Ltd.
The Dennis Dominator chassi is built to SYPTE specification and is powered by the Roll: Royce Eagle 220 engine, couple to the Voith DB51 retarder. Fu air suspension, fully coloo. coded polyester brake pipes an an air dryer are among the fer tures of the corrosion-proof Zii bart-coated chassis.
The body is a new aluminiur Alexander R-type.
The contract to supply tf buses was awarded to Heste Dennis and Alexanders fo lowing a long-term evaluatic programme carried out t SYPTE on a hilly and arduol route in Sheffield.
