FROM THIS WEEK British hauliers are to have the exclusive use of an entire train on the German road rail system on Mondays and Saturdays. This will be in addition to the British allocation on the regular service.

Mr H. Gasser, manager of German Railways in London, told CM that following the publication of an article in CM April 25, the regular service had been seriously overbooked. "Even with these two new special trains there is up to three weeks' delay between booking time and departure," he said.

The article to which Mr Gasser was referring dealt with Middle East traffic and pointed out the time advantages in using the sys tern. The new Saturday train ha been scheduled to give addei advantage to operators travellini to the Middle East. It wi. depart from Cologne at noon an arrive at the terminal north o Munich at 6.30pm.

According to Mr Gasser, thi will give ample time for operator to reach the German/Austria: border before it closes on Satui day. "More important," he saic 'is the fact that vehicles will thei be able to cross Austria, Yugc slavia, Bulgaria and enter Turke before that border closes on Fr day evening thus avoiding anothe two days' delay."

The British specials have capacity of 24 maximum-capacit outfits.
