FUEL REBATE should be obtainable on all psv operations; that is the proposal made by Confederation of British Road Passenger Transport president Sir Richard Way to the Secretary of State for Energy.
Sir Richard notes that at present only stage carriage services qualify for remission of duty. His letter points out that this restriction fails to recognise the fuel-saving nature of contract journeys and express services.
An appendix shows that long-distance coaches give the best fuel economy per passenger mile.
