ANINE-GALLON pressure vessel, equipped with facilities for spraying detergent mixture, is offered by Wakefield-Dick Industrial Oils, Ltd., 67 Grosvenor Street, London, W.1. Evolved primarily for British Railways to facilitate cleaning rollingstock underframes, the unit is suitable for road-vehicle cleaning. It is also capable of spraying any air/liquid mixture.

The contents of the container are dispensed under pressure through 40. ft. of hose terminating in a spraying nozzle. A 40-ft, length of 4-in, hose is also provided to connect the unit to the air supply. The pressure vessel is built .to Board of Trade specifications and a pressure gauge is supplied. When not in use both hoses can be coiled on saddles. The unit is mounted on two wheels.

TURELES,S tyres in the sizes now fitted to earthmovers and other heavy equipment present problems in fitting and repair, because of the difficulty of compressing the tyre to effect an air seal before inflation.

The Pull-jack, offered by the Roto-lift Sales Co., Ltd,, Whitehouse Street, St. Peters, Newcastle upon Tyne, is said to overcome this problem. The device consists of a steel link-type flexible chain which is placed around the circumference of the tyre. The action of the tool tightens. the chain and tyre beads are forced against the wheel flange, making inflation possible.

Available for tyres from 14.00 by 20 to 27.00 by 20, the jack is fitted with 30 ft. a chain, and when not in use for tyre fitting may be used as a portable winch, models being offered for capacities from 4-3 tons.

Threaded Inserts

SUITABLE for use in wood, plastics and other compounds, a range of self-locking inserts offered by the Precision Screws and Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Union Street, Willenhall, Staffs, under the name of Bank-lok should find many applications.

They are fitted by drilling a hole to the correct dimension and pressing the insert into place. A slight taper on the internal thread ensures that the insert expands as the screw is tightened, thus locking it firmly into place.
